Mill Creek Natural Beef
Twelve Points of Excellence
We take extreme measures to have our customers enjoy high quality natural beef with confidence.

1. Our cattle are raised by a fifth-generation ranching family in Gunnison, Colorado on high altitude native grass and native hay, then finished on a natural grain to enhance highest eating quality.
2. Our beef is all natural minimally processed, no artificial ingredients, no preservatives.
3. Our beef is free of fed antibiotics and added growth hormones.
4. Our cattle never eat feed that contains animal or poultry by-products.
5. Clean mountain water and clean mountain air is available every day for our cattle.
6. Our cattle are raised with respect, with minimal stress.
7. We track every animal with individual and unique permanent identification from conception to consumption.
8. Our beef is dry-aged for 14-16 days for tenderness.
9. Our beef is processed and packaged at a USDA approved and inspected facility with a USDA inspector on site during all hours of operation.
10. Our beef is flash-frozen and vacuum sealed to keep all of the natural juices in the meat for full flavor.
11. We are environmental stewards of the land.
12. Our ranch is Beef Quality Assurance certified.

Our Cattle
We have four generations of ranchers before us and we ranch between Gunnison and Crested Butte, in southwestern Colorado.

While most people have heard of purebred cattle breeds like Angus, many people are not familiar with the benefits of crossbreeding. At Mill Creek Ranch, we produce a high quality composite, or cross-bred animal, using the best traits of Angus, Simmental, and Gelbvieh cattle.

We track performance data on all of our cows, and have been for decades.

All Mill Creek Natural Beef comes from cattle born and raised on our ranch. Our cows graze the meadows on our three ranches and additional land that we lease, graze on National Forest and BLM lands in the summer, and eat our own-raised hay in the winter. It’s the way Burt’s great-grandfather ranched – but with more modern equipment. (Sometimes I think we still drive the same trucks that his grandfather did!)
